Did you know that the Levi Strauss Company has been making Jeans since 1853? Thats over a for 150 years! Levis makes jeans and other items for Babies, Children, Men and Women.
THE HISTORY OF DENIM:
Denim is one of the Worlds oldest fabrics. It is always made from cotton. Denim is an English word the was taken from the French phrase serge de Nimes, (a fabric made before the 17th Century in Nimes, France).
Serge de Nimes was also known in England before the end of the 17th century. Was this fabric imported from France or was it an English fabric that had the same name? There are documents that show that in Lancashire, England that they were making a jean material in the 16th Century.
LEVI:
I have been wearing their thick denim jeans since I was a Child. At first we rolled them up, then we bough baggy jeans and then we almost ruined our Mothers washing machine by trying to beach them to look like faded jeans.
Canada doesnt grown the cotton plant and the Manufactures must import it. When they make their jeans they make heavy ones so you can wear them during the four seasons.
I no longer buy my Levis jeans in Canada because they are very thick and I wait until I can go to the United States where they make a thinner jean.
The United States does grow cotton and they make a thinner jean. They dont last as the jeans in Canada but they feel lighter and more comfortable to me.
I love to wear thin leg jeans, (not straight leg), and they dont make them in Canada. I get very angry when a Company makes womens jeans and they size them like they do for men. Levi knows that Women like to see the sizes from 1 to 20 on their jeans.
Who wears size 2 jeans? Movie Stars and Models who starve them selves. Who wears the size 1 jeans? The same people but they are now dead! (Just joking). I wear size 16 and am proud of my size. I enjoyed every meal I ate to reach my goal!
Levi makes jeans, (in a large range of colors, all type of leg widths and some with bibs), jackets, shirts, skirts, dresses and accessories.

WHAT CAN YOU MAKE FROM YOUR OLD JEANS:
I dont like to wear ripped jeans, (I know many teenagers do). If they are torn below the knees I cut the legs off and make knee high jeans. I dont wear shorts but if you do and the jean is torn above the knees you can make shorts.
I have made a few purses and a lot of pillows.
If I had a Granddaughter I would make her doll cloths.
MY CONCLUSION:
I still have the first Levi Jeans that I bought. They are at the back to my closet! I wore them for 10 years and they didnt wear out. I just gained weight!
If you havent tried a pair of Levis yet I highly recommend you do.
Comments are always welcome.
