I bought this LG TV around 1 month back. Why I went for this TV? Well my requirements were:
- Good contrast Ratio
Why: Contrast ratio determines the quality of picture on the LCD panel, Dark can be adjusted to be more Dark and bright part of the picture become more bright. Just display a Chess board image on the panel and you would notice the difference(as compared to other LCD TV sets and this one). This TV has ration of 50000:1, that is a good start for most viewing purpose at home. Anything greater than should be a target on Full HD TVs.
- Full HD TV
Why: This is a 1080p HD TV, that means no Interlacing of a picture. In simple words if you take a picture from a digital camera of the program/moview being played on this TV a complete pic will come . no half dark image as it would on conventional TV. To say it is as if the panel is displaying one still image after another in quich succession for the moving picture effect. It is good TV if you are planning to buy a PS, Xbox later on, you will get HD experience. 1080p(p means progressive scan).
- USB
Why: I am a avid movie viewer, I like to play movies on my laptop from the USB memory stick. Well this TV gives you that facility directly, just plug the stick and you can watch/listen to the MP3, AVI files. This feature is what prompted me to buy this LCD TV . The LG are very innovative when it comes to add unique features to their product for the Customer’s joy and that makes this TV truly a value for money product.
Rest of the features just augment the appeal of this TV for the buyers.
Improvement Areas for the 32 LG 80FR
Panel screen heats up and it is advised to have a ceiling fan near it to provide air circulation.
Remote Control could have been designed better for channel and vol button placement.
PC connectivity via 15 pin VGA connector is poor, my laptop connection was not at all satisfactory, If you play a movie on laptop and connect it to TV . well no movie display will come. Connect if you want to browse Internet only.
Tips:
Prevent it from Dust . Vacuum clean the rear side carefully and regularly.
Dust the panel . Dare not put a soap or Colin on it . Just dust it . That would be good.

Updates as on March 28 2010, 1. Exactly an year after I would say I have made a good choice for the LCD tv in this model.2. Movie watching experience from usb stick has been good.3. For the .avi files as big as 1.5GB this tv loads them in less than 60 sec.4. Quality of .avi file of size 700MB is stunning with crisp picture and colours.5. The new format .mp4 files for video are not supported by its onboard Divx codec.
A good buy, New buyers see if you can get a new model in the lines of 80FR from LG.Go for it.
