I had an LG 21" TV earlier, so I had decided to go for a LCD. My brother had a Sony Bravia 40" S series with him with HT at home, so my buying impulsion was getting more.
Sony was good, but when you compare the features with LG with same price band, then LG gives more for the price value, so I had removed Sony from my List.
I decided to go for LG 42FR80 instead, of getting a 32", but the price was 65K for a 42", while it was 38K for a 32. And another issue I had with my hall was my viewing distance was only 12 feets, as my TV was setup in the shorter dimension of the room, not by length.
The dealer also advised that even though I had 12 feet= 12*12= 144" is actually more than 3 times[The minimum viewing distance for an LCD is thrice the screen size] of 42"= 126" he recommended me a 32".
Finally I decided to get LG 32FR80, which can save 27K for that extra 10". Hope I dont yearn for that decision later.
The dealer did not have the stock of the TV so he gave me a stand by for almost a week, which was another LG 32"[LG LH20] but it was a very basic model.
The experience I had with this TV for the past two months were:
It supports two AV Ports one at the back and one at the side. We could choose the port with the remote itself. This was lacking in the earlier model.
The Picture clarity was quite good. The colors where quite pleasing, this I am comparing with my brother Bravia as well as LG32 I felt they a bit too hazy.
It could be because of the resolution and the response rate 1:50000. I personally the Sports mode for both the sound/picture settings gave better results.
There were two HDMI ports, They dont give a HDMI cable along, we might have to purchase it additonally if we want. I could not use them as I did not have the supporting devices. My DVD player was not HDMI compalint.
The only Feature that failed to impress me is the Audio, though it claims to be a 500 watts Surround Sound, the audio was not that great. The woofers were given at the back.
There was a bit of echo when I connected with my Home Theatre. It went away when I raised the sound volume of Home Theatre.
- There are two variants of the same product, one was HD ready and the one I choose was Full HD.
But only the Gods know why I choose the Full HD, which is a 4K extra. It doesnt make any sense at all now, as our TV relays are not in HD. I am one of the people who takes the decision by heart, not by brain. But the divx movies run quite well, there are no pixels visible. I guess it is worth for this feature.
There is an USB port that it capable of playing movies/music/photos. It plays divx and avi, but not mkv format.
Once you wall mount the TV, it is a bit difficult to change the wires at the back, as the space is very less.
The remote is quite tall, but not that bulky. It has the provisons for the LG DVD player and LG Setup Box(not sure whether it is launched).
The service was very prompt, I called up the support center for the Installation, the support person came to my house exactly as promised. He asked whether I would be interested in an AMC, but I was not it, as it came around 2.5K per year.
I had a problem with my earlier TV as there was a window exactly opposite to it, though there is a curtain, it still mess up with glaring effect, it used to be very annoying in the afternoons. But with the LCD it is not there anymore, but again this is true for all the LCDs, nothing to do with this model.
I may not have got into the technical details too much, but these are my experience with the TV so far. I am enjoying it very much. Again your opinion depends on your taste and budget.
