The first thing that appeals to you is the look. It has a very polished metallic look. Fits into one’s hand easily and not heavy at all.
The screen is a colour one with 4096 colours. The colours are pleasant and hence do not strain the eye. Compared to some of the other brands the screen is small but that is not at all a hindrance. When the phone rings or when a message is being sent the colour display brings a smile on to your face. It has 5 default wallpapers which are good. The screensaver is also good. But it is better to put off the screensaver as otherwise the cell gets discharged quickly.
The phonebook has a facility to store 5 details for each entry - Home, Office, Mobile, Fax and Email. On the contrary if you want to call a person you can only do so to the number that is set as default. You cannot choose a alternate number saved. I tried doing this but could not find a way to do it. Don’t know if there is a way to it that I don’t know of. Due to this, the facility of storing 5 numbers in one entry becomes pointless.
Coming to the ringtones not all are that great. Only 2-3 are worth using. And ringtones cannot be downloaded from any website. Only using a datacable and connecting to the PC will help in downloading new tones which is definitely not as simple a process as the direct download from a website.
The volume of the ringtone is again low. When set to the Loud profile too it is not very audible in noisy places. And the vibration is not very strong again. So you need to continually be attentive to the cell unless otherwise you would easily miss a call. This is a major disappointment in the phone. I was used to a Samsung earlier which had a loud ringtone and also a very strong vibration. So this was a major disadvantage for me.
The phone gets heated up if you talk continuously for more than 10 mins. This as far as I know is unique to LG. Coz even the reliance instrument has the same problem. And the voice clarity is not good. Even if both the people are shouting it seems like a low tone.
WAP does work. I tried hitting google.com and searching for something and was amazed that it actually gave me results.
All this came for a price of Rs.5800 a month back. And the problem is finding people to buy a second hand LG phone. Resale value is pathetic.
Summing it up, I would not advice people to go in for this phone
