LG - I want my money back!

I bought a whole host of LG products just 3 months ago when I set up a new home, and since then it’s been a nightmare. Let me elucidate:

  1. Technical problems: The refrigerator (470 l) has a digital temperature contol, which is set at the middle level. For effective cooling in Indian summers of 45 degrees temperatures, the Level 5 setting is what is needed. But what does the ref do? Everytime the electricity goes (about 15 times a day), it reverts to Level 3. Therefore the fridge works at only 50% of it’s cooling effeacy. Same for the aircon, whose default is 22 degrees.

The washing machine? Less said the better. To wash even a small load, you need to set it at the `high’ water level - otherwise the lint remains on the clothes and the lint filter is empty (thi is a nightmare when you wash towels). So, more water, more detergent, more time, and more electricity - will LG be willing to pay these bills I am running up?

  1. Pathetic service : the service centre and the call centre are completely confused - each says the complaint has been attended to/will be attended to by the other; check my phone bills - there are atleast 20 calls made before a complaint is attended to. To top it all, the ladies who take the calls are pretty rude, and slam down phone before you have a chance to complete your call in case you have clarification.

  2. Bad training of service staff: They have the gall to argues with me on the phone: `Why do you need your ref to run at Level 5? Level 3 is ok no?’ Hello...it’s my ref. They also insist on knowing details like `What was the exact date of purchase?’ when they provide service - am I expected to know that? surely my mindspace is reserved for less mundane activities. They also come up with hare-brained solutions - ’’have a long external drain pipe attached to your washer - whenever you run it, just haul it out and put it over a drain’’ was one solution to my problem of lint on the clothes!

What am I supposed to do? I just want my money back. LG - NEVER AGAIN!
