I was out to buy a nokia E71 type phone, but the retailer showed me this piece. I went back and studied the reviews, and bought it next day. have been using for months now, and I should say, it’s a value for money phone.
it’s a i-phone clone, with 3 inch display, (touch screen), 3 buttons, one green call button, one red reject button which also doubles as cancel button in applications, and a middle multi function(LG terms it as multitasking button) button. display is good, I have never had to use the stylus. we can type sms on screen, using thumb.
key pad has traditional phone lay out, (where one key is assigned to 3 characters) or a querty layout when held horizontally. querty typing may not be as easy as in iphone(i saw them type real fast in youtube videos). I still use traditional mode with predictive text input mode.
camera is 5 mp autofocus. autofocus is good, now, I just photograph any short notes or bills, for later reference. video capture is not that smooth, and it comes with lots of square pixels. perhaps they will improve it with newer firmwares. overall picture quality is not bad, when compared to nokia pictures, taken in same settings. sometimes, LG performs better.
i instaled java dictionary, chess programs, and created a few java programs myself. works neat.
phone is real light weight, when compared to E71. dimentions are quite compact too. I used to use a motorokr E6 previously, and this one fits my pocket better.
battery lasts for 2 days easily, with heavy use.(phone and video viewing. I have saved a few full time movies, and other video snippets in the card). there’s only one port, for charging, microphone, and datacable. nice thing is, charger doubles as datacable, when we seperate it from the plug piece. so, where ever u go, u can attach it to a computer.
it has nice WIFI, good browser. google functions(gmail, google maps). I have not tested 3G yet.
overall a nice phone. I bought it for 14.5k
