It has it all..............except.......

Hi, From a long time I was thinking of purchasing a new mobile. I could just not decide which mobile to take. Wanted an affordable mobile with all the basic multimedia features. I searched and read reviews of various mobiles on the internet. I never had a touchscreen mobile but I simply loved such ones, so I was thinking if I could get one in an affordable price.

So I also started searching such phones. In the beginning I found two mobiles with these features, one was the motorola A810 and the other was Moto Rokr E6. Both were priced the way I wanted. I did not like A810 that much so started exploring about the rokr. But then in between I found another cell-The Cookie which was slightly costlier than both the motomobiles. The rokr costed around 10, 000 INR and this one was around 12, 000. Now the question is, why I chose the cookie out of these. The answer is that it had more features. The camera resolution was high (not actually-you will come to know why when I further describe the camera), the screen was large which was good for touchscreen, and it had a built in accelerometer which was also a new feature which I wanted to explore about. So I finally got this Lg stuff.

Setting up the mobile was very easy. The next thing was to learn about it’s different features and UI. So now let me start with the UI. The interface of this mobile seemed very pleasing to me. The touch sensitivity is great and is very simple to operate. Even, one who has never used a touchsreen mobile, like me, will find it very simple. So UI is great.

Now coming to the music this mobile offers some great music capabilities. Firstly, I liked the look of the media player a lot. If the song has some artwork it displays them in it’s large screen in high quality. Next, the sound from the speaker was quite satisfying. You can surely use it for some decent listening. And then when I plugged in the earphones I was taken away by it’s volume level. It was very high compared to what came from the speaker. I mean that if you are listening to music from the earpiece b/w the volume level of 10-15, (OUT OF 30 VOLUME LEVELS!!!!) you will still want to decrease the level because it would then be too loud to listen to music playing so close to the ears.Which I think was of no use because why would anyone increase the volume so much that their ear-drums get damaged. But while recording videos the microphone does not do so well.

The messaging part is quite good. When the mobile is kept vertically it has the normal keypad which all basic mobiles have but when you turn the mobile to landscape mode the qwerty keypad comes out. Thanks to the built in accelerometer. The qwerty is a bit difficult but once you get used to it, the keypad feels great. There is also handwriting recognition which needs some practice but I still like it. The phone also has other features such as a picsel document viewer for veiwing your word, powerpoint and pdf files. However you cannot edit them. The cell also features a drawing pad. You can really have fun playing with it, at least I had. Preloaded games are quite good for timepass. Two of them are motion sensor game and the other two are touchscreen. You will not enjoy them for many days. You can load more games into it but it’s not easy to find games for the cookie and playing those games on touchscreen is not that interesting.

Now finally going to the camera....In my previous mobile review of SE K750 I cannot stop talking about it’s great camera which was of 2 MP and now I’m feeling quite dissapoited coming back to MS to write about "NOT so good" camera of this cell. I just can’t believe that it has a 3 MP camera. The pictures I took from it seemed to be a lot colourless. There was no shine, no colour, no brightness. I was totally suprised and at the same time depressed by the first con I found in this mobile. But, hey I’m making it seem too bad.......don’t worry you can still use the cam. for some normal photography but you will not get very high quality pictures which are clear and bright. You will get some pics which are just ok..ok. However outdoor photography in the natural light is not like this. Taking pictures in natural light gives some very satisfying results. The point where you get dissapointed is indoor lighting which is artificial. And one more point the camera does not support is zoom function. I don’t know what were the LG guys thinking when they were making this phone. No zoom!!!!!! I mean, this is not good for a 12k cell.

In the end, the lg Kp500 turned out very pleasing to me. It has wonderful user interface with very good music player & radio with lots of other features you can enjoy. However one thing I would like to add is that the support for applications in this mobile is very poor. You will hardly find any useful apps other than two or three for this mobile. There is lack of profiles in java such as you can’t access bluetooth from an app. Apart from that the graphics and icons are excellent. So now if you are planning to take an affrodable cell with loads of features I would definitely suggest go for this one. But sorry camera lovers this phone will not satisfy your camera needs fully but it would still work for some mid range photography. Thanks for reading. Please post comments and rate my review.
