I have had the most frustrating experience with the after sales service guys at LG. Though I purchased the microwave oven a year ago in October 2005, I havent been able to use it at all to give a review of its performance.
The oven worked for a couple of days before it started giving problems. It would switch off in a couple of seconds when turned on. When we called the customer service guys, they very courteously sent a technician over who said that the "mica layer" was defective and would have to be replaced. Apparently, LG doesnt manufacture much of this mica because we had to wait till August 2006 (inspite of repeated calls to customer service and service centres) before they said that the part was still unavailable and sent over a brand new oven in replacement of the old one.
Hurray??? Not quite - the new oven just wouldnt turn on. Unfortunately the guy who delivered the oven was not the one who would demonstrate the product otherwise we would have sent the piece back with him. The guy who was to demonstrate the product never turned up. After repeated calls to the customer care dept and service centres, a technician finally came, checked the oven and said that the electrical circuit was faulty. Now, this part is still not available (since August 2006) which makes me wonder whether LG manufactures any spare parts at all !!!
So its been one year since I bought a microwave and never got a chance to use it properly.
In conclusion, LG products may be good, but god forbid, your particular piece turns out to be a dud, DO NOT expect LG to do much about it. I myself am in the process of lodging a complaint with the consumer court to get my money back.
