This is a user review of the LG Nexus 4.I bought the phone from US ( a 8GB version ) and have been using it for almost 6 months now.
What I like about the phone :
The phone is sleek and slim and look good in the hands.
Its fast and the processing speed and the RAM adds more boost to the capabilities of the phone.
Almost all games works/supports on the phone , but recently while visting the android market , I found some high end games doesnt work on the device.
The one high end game that worked , showed some slowness / lag and the frame rate was super slow.
Battery life is okie , provided you turn of GPS / Google Play music sync and heavy battery eaters.
I get close to day on charge ( i.e from morning 8AM taking it out from charge to connecting it back with 10% to 15% battery at 11PM ) , yes all day my 3G is always on.
GPS give in good signal strength and the navigation works like a charm.
3G Receiver also showed good speed for browsing and played youtube videos on 240p in a speed ( My connection is from airtel ) .
I havent received any android update yet from google ( since im running the latest version of 4.2.2 ) , so not sure if we at india will get the update , but hopefully we should so.
Cooperate email sync perfectly with the EMAIL exchange server .
Display is superb and pictures looks really good on it .
The price is super cheap , you cant get a better phone with this price.
What I dont like about the phone :
I brought a 8GB variant ( since I earlier had a 64MB android phone and only expandable about 2G via micro SD card ) and taught 8GB was more than enough , but out of the box you will only get 5.4G has shortage space .
When you start installing games both high end and medium end , you can find that most of the space is eaten up by them,
Adding to the plain of limited storage is the cache of the apps that needs a constant cleanup in 2 weeks .
My friend complained me that his device ( nexus 4 ) gets hot charging , but I havent faced that problem , but I would say that while connecting to GPS with 3G on , youre device would get definitely hot .
While playing games ( high end ) , I did also find the same problem of heating , but nothing to worry about , it cools down once you shop the high load on the device.
Most of the tech gurus always speak about pure vanilla android , but I would say that pure android , is so stupid , there is nothing in it and also its not useful , take for example the Dialer of the pure android , it doesnt give the predictive caller that you want to dial when you start pressing the number ( I used them a lot for quick dialing , rather than searching the contact ( people app ) to get the person you want to dial)
Most of these drawback can be easily overcome using third party app , for the example above I use "Dialer one"
The camera is not that great , it take okie pictures in sunlight , but useless during low light.
The camera has hard to pick focus when the subject is moving , so it always like steady objects.
Conclusion:
All the drawback , can be easily overcome using third party apps , so keeping the strong points in mind like processing , ram , quick android update , I would say this is a best phone for the price.
Please note : Im not a Phone camera person ( since I own a DSLR ) , so the phone camera is not a drawback for me at all.
For extra storage I use dropbox , sky drive , google drive etc , All my favorite songs I place it on my phone internals and the rest which I listen occasionally on my cloud, photos also goes to my cloud , so this helps me to overcome the storage limit.
So in short , I would definitely recommend everyone planning to buy to go for it , but yes get the 16GB one , if you are a app lover .
Thanks
