I bought this phone a month back and is giving more than satisfactory performance.
the most important factor for a good phone, is its battery life. I am a heavy user (music, gaming, internet on the go.) So after a full charge it performs for a satisfactory 10-12 hrs.
Multitasking is good.All the hardware(RAM, PROCESSOR) offered is fair for the price charged, so you cant play hi def resource hungry games like nfs shift but there are many good free games available in app market which this device plays smoothly, my fav are angry birds, , fruit slice, mx moto and so on. Android 2.2 does give this phone a definite edge over other smart phones in this price category. Talking about sound reception which is a basic function of a phone, P500 will not disappoint you on that. Some of the pre installed apps are very useful like OI file manager, Think Office so thats a added bonus. Only Con about this device which I come across is that the display gets dull when I am out in the sun. So overall I can say this phone is the best at the price range of under 15k rs. You will not regret buying this phone.
