Powehouse not famous

South Korean giant LG is not a new name in India. Company is a household name with many reliable products in market. In mobile industry lot of new concepts and innovations come up every now and then. A race to be best is a race to be market leader. On these lines, LG launched two series of optimus devices. One is the famous G series, now G5 announced in WMC, but the other series that did not taste success is the VU series. G series are true flagship device with all the latest and greatest packed in one device and competes with Samsung S series, Apple iphones, Sony Xperis and so on. VU devices are launched and treated like Samsung note series.

LG VU2 is limited mostly to South Korea if one wants to see all the features of this handset. The device looks good and feels good. At 5inch, the LCD screen at front is more square than long as aspect ratio is 4: 3 and not 16: 9. This aspect ratio makes the total surface area greater than any 5inch device-now this is pure science and one can google it. Above screen is earpiese and notification indicator along with sensirs and front camera at 2mp and bottom houses three buttons, central hardware home button and soft touch buttons at both side. Bezel is a unique one as its two line bezel and a designer grip is sandwiched between metal bezel lines. On the right is power button. On left is multi function button followed by volume rocker below it. This multi function button can be used as shorcut button, by default for notes but one can reset it to any other app or widget based on how you like it to be. On the top is 3.5mm headphone jack and secondary mic along with an IR blaster-this can control TV, music player, AC, set top box. There is a default app installed for this and can be controlled from drop down options making it really handy. DMB antenna replaces any option for joystick but it is active in Korea only. Bottom keeps primary mic and micro usb port. Rear of the device shows 8mp camera able to shoot 1080p@30fps. LED flash supports in low light conditions. Back cover has a unique pattern and is removable to uncover micro sim slot and micro sd card slot above a battery of 2150mAh. This is a single sim unit suppprting 4G. On the inside is a 1.5 Ghz dual core processor supported by 2GB of ram and hassle free experience with 16GB of internal storage though only 11GB is available. LG is giving support upto kitkat os only and device is really stable though. LG custom UI is on top of android making it heavily customizable and gives lot of freedom to customer to modify and play around. A bunch of useful LG apps are also preinstalled which unfortunately cannot be uninstalled and these are in korean.

The overall performance is decent if not at flagship level and now a days lot of devices are in market to compete with this device. Battery is a bit non performer but if you get 2 batteries in the pack then no need to complain. Box contains premium headphones, usb to micro usb cable, charger, jockey pen for making notes, battery charger for that extra battery and an extra battery for those who do not want to stop just because battry is low. Fast chargind is missing and battery takes complete 2 hrs to charge from 0 to 100 % . So its ok. Most of the games, even heavy one are playable with good experience. The device is availabe online for nearly Rs.8000. The features are really good as UI is heavily customized but now the market is really competitive.

This device is worth checking out before making any decision to buy another device available at this price level.
