Beware of Servicing

I paid 23000/- and obtained a connection under the Dhirubhai Pioneer Offer. I was allotted a LG Handset.

Last year, water seeped into the set and took it for repair to a LG Authorised Service Centre. Just imagine, how much I paid for repairing this handset. Rs.4600/-. The service centre guys coaxed me into paying this amount as they assured me that under the Pioneer offer, I was insured and would get back the full amount from the Insurance Company. The Reliance Infocomm website around the same time was selling better handsets for lesser than Rs.3, 000/-, but because the Service Centre guys sold me the idea of an insurance claim, I had the handset repaired. The repairing took a long time, which is another story. The insurance claim has still not been settled despite close to 20 reminders is yet another story.

Similarly, I wanted my LG charger to be repaired. The Authorised Service Centre quoted Rs.700/- plus for repair, whilst a new Charger was being advertised for about Rs.500/- on the Reliance Infocomm website. It is another thing, that I obtained another charger from the open market for about Rs.150/.

Moral of the Story - Think a million times before stepping into a LG Authorised Service Centre.
