Clunky User Interface

I’ve had the LG RD7130 mobile phone from Reliance for around 8 months now. Here are my views on this handset.

  1. Battery backup : It’s a good thing that Reliance packages 2 batteries with this phone. The battery back up is very less. Some days it doesn’t even last a full day.

  2. Interface : Inspite of all the eye-candy on the menu system. The usability of the menu system is quite confusing. In a lot of places, the menu system does not work like it’s expected to. LG’s forgotten to do a usability test on this phone before releasing it. It takes quite a while to get used to the interface.

  3. Multimedia: Forget watching videos online ( like you see in the ads ). The most you ca watch will be 2 frames a second if the line’s fast. The audio fares better with less skips.

  4. Ringtones ? Other than some Hindi tunes put up on Reliance’s R-World, you’ll have a tough time getting decent ring tones on this phone.

  5. Sound Clarity : Voice clarity on this phone is quite good when you’re listening in, but the person on the other end of the call has problems listening to your side of the conversation. The mic provided in the phone is quite bad.

  6. Other Problems : If you keep the phone on continuously for a week or so, you’ll find that the phone starts acting sluggish - the menus take time to react to your actions. You’ll need to restart the phone to get it back to normal.
