Very good phone with excellent battery life

A camera phone with video!!! I think I am gonna stick with this one for some time.

About 6 months back, I bought myself a GTRAN GCP4020 handset from Reliance. I wanted to upgrade from the RD2030 Black and White to a color handset and Reliance gave an option which I could not resists. So, I buy this handset and after replacing the handset twice because of the LCD Screen bleeding, I got my hands on a neat and sleek LG RD 7230. This handset is a million times better than the GTRAN. The 300K Pixel camera and the video is an added bonus. And the battery life is just superb (when compared with the GTRAN). The set does look a little bulky, but it has to get that extra power for videos and pics from somewhere, right???

Been using this set for the past 3 weeks now and its just awesome with the features in it. The ringtones are just like mp3 songs when played. I am still trying to figure out a way of downloading ringtone to the handset using USB. The external speakers make the rings loud and audible to be heard in traffic as well.

The 262K color screen makes any pic a delightful experience to look at. Another good feature is the Light sensor that avoid wastage of unnecessary battery life.

There is an IrDa port on the phone and I have been trying to use this with my Sony Clie’s Ir port. Does not seem to work. Seems like it works only with other 7230 handsets, that sucks, no friendly usability with other IR ports. So this is totally useless at the moment. But a good feature when you are showing off the phone to friends and relatives.

The Sync software is very easy to use and work with, immediately I was able to sync my contacts in Outlook with the phone and start using the numbers. I can even store pics in the address book with Avatars (not that useful but funny). I even upload and download pics to/from the phone in a jiffy.

The built in answering machine is another great feature. You don’t have to punch in any passwords to hear these voice mails and this feature is great when in meetings.

I dunno what I dislike about the product yet. I got this product in exchange for the GTRAN that started bleeding for no extra cost. I really like Reliance for this kinda support. I hope they dont charge anything extra in the next billing statement!!!

An MP3 player wouldve been better with the stereo sound of the phone.

Nothing bad about this phone yet. Everything is just great. If you wanna go for a phone with a ’’Chalega’’ camera resolution and for lil videos with good ringtones and clarity, go for it. Or else you can save another 14K rupees and go for the Nokia 7610.
