Fed up with wearing the usual clog like and military style Nubuck shoes made by WoodLands & Bata, I decided to test the Liberty range of Nubuck(Suede) Shoes. What I was looking for were light, supple and comfi shoes. Thick soles are no probs as I travel mostly by car and comfort is the primemost consideration.
But there was a problem. I stay at Carmichael Road (Mumbai) and couldnt find any dealer in the vicinity. So I got their E mail addy from google(of their Karnal, Haryana Headquarters) and e Mailed them expecting nothing. But on checking my inbox in the evening, was pleasantly surprised to get a prompt reply from their marketing Department informing me that the nearest stockist was in New Bombay (about 30 kms from where I live).
Off I went the next day to their dealer and was astounded at the excellent range in Nubuck Shoes. And they were ohhhhhhhhhh so light. And extremely reasonable@ 1, 400.00 a pair.I immediately purchased 3 pairs and came back triumphant. Then the magic started.
I was dreading the next day as I would have to break in the new shoes & the ’’Horror’’ of shoe bites reared its ugly head.But then the miracle happened. They were so comfy & pliable as if I had been wearing them for a few months & miracle of miracles. No shoe bites. And extremely light. After all we are in the city and dont need the 2 inch thick heavy military type soles normally associated with Woodlands & Bata. Usually in breaking in new shoes, there is so much chafing & abrasion that for a few days my feet are covered in Band Aid. But not this time.
Subsequently I have started wearing all the three pairs and there is only one word to describe them
Heavenly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & Sheer Bliss !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
