LIC is a giant, with more than 90% of the market held by them for life insurance in India. It was a pure govt organization before 1991, enjoying full protection of the license raj of the central govt. Things opened up in 1991, and suddenly they discovered(to their horror) that they can no longer remain the same complacent company that they were.
So came out a lot of new initiatives, and yet, those were not adequately supported by their customer support execs. In short, the execs do not seem to be informative enough.
Their website ’’contact us’’ link is pathetic. You have to choose location/city to put a question across. What these people do not understand is that their can be a generic question by a person, who has no policy with LIC. Then why shall he be required to browse through those unnecessary junk? Another problem with their site: They offer 1 month grace for annual premiums. However, from the policy basket, they will delete a policy after the premium date, and will not put it back even if you pay the premium in grace period.
