The LICI policy number 415594489 was a salary savings account operated through Indian Statistical Institute(ISI), Kolkata.
As I have retired from the above institute on September 1, 2018, I have submitted(through my irresponsible agent: 24080412) employers certificate to the City Branch- 20, along with an application letter(requesting a conversion from salary savings to an ordinary policy) few days after my retirement with a goal to continue my policy.
After almost six months,
(a) when the policy was suffering the status of “reduced paid-up”
and
(b) as I had not got any information from any of the representatives of the LICI,
I myself called the customer care, LICI. They mentioned following points through phone:
Application and employers certificate had not been submitted to the LICI by the above-mentioned agent.
Moreover, the policy is under the purview of Baranagar LICI branch no. 430. Though, in the policy bond, it is mentioned that the service branch of the policy is Kolkata City branch no. 20, KMDO 1.
Both of these information were beyond my knowledge as I was not informed in black and white regarding such change of service branch before my inquiry. What is surprising here to note that in response to my email, dated April 18. 2019, LIC CUSTOMER ZONE, Kolkata Metropolitan Division-I sent me the status report(dated April 24, 2019) of the policy stating,
“NO PAYMENT HISTORY FOR THIS POLICY”
(Screenshot attached)
After getting such shocking information, “NO PAYMENT HISTORY FOR THIS POLICY", we, all the family members of mine, as far as we understand the semantico-pragmatic connotation and denotation of the enunciation, had undergone a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) as diagnosed by the physician.
According to Indian Penal Code, “Whoever, knowing or having reason to believe that an offence has been committed, gives any information respecting that offence which he knows or believes to be false, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.”
Therefore, we are claiming compensation of ₹ 1000000(Rupees Ten lakh only) for the damage caused by LICI by providing false information or you are to be sued under Section 203, IPC.
Dear LICI agent, what would happen if I die within this lazy period? Your negligence is unforgivable.
