An Italian Drama/Comedy entertainer that is completely family orientated. And, of course, the movie became most popular and hence was sub-sequentially dubbed in English and subtitles thereafter to suit every language during its era. The movie is brilliantly directed by Robert Benigni the entire plot is circled around a book store keeper called Guido who happens to be Jewish -Italian during the Nazi period of rule, the man is comical and pretty sharp to see the dangers around him. He falls in love with a girl(Dora) who happens to be a teacher in a school, she was to be engaged to the local government official but fortunes turn when Guido steals the girl from the engagement party after being adored for his affection and goodwill. when the World War II breaks loose, Guido and fellow Jews are forced to board a train heading for the concentration camp, men and women get separated as is always with the Nazi Regime . A son born to both was them is caught in the middle of the horrifying scenario and hence, Guido does all it takes to keep his son from finding out the truth of their destination and in the midst of it all Dora goes missing and ultimately killed.Guido comical stunts and constant talking to keep the Jews hopes alive is a wonderful feature throughout the entire film. Guido carefully hides the ugly situation of an eventful death for the entire Jews who boarded the train from his son though regular pranks and comical behavior - In the end Guido gets killed in the concentration camp while saving is son, who is finally saved when the American troops take over - The film is intense though and is filled with all the good humor and a relationship between Father and Son like never before. The movie can be watched several times in any era - thanks to its story line and ever freshness that am sure will go a long way in viewership. A well crafted movie that needs a special mention and recommendation to all movie goers to find and watch this film before one dies -A masterpiece indeed!
