Life is Really very Beautiful !

From acclaimed Italian comedian/filmmaker Roberto Benigni comes an unforgettable story of love and laughter. Life is Beautiful is about the charm of romance and triumph over incredible hardship.

The story is set in 1939, against the backdrop of World War II, Guido(Benigni) moves from the country to the big city to work and be with his uncle. A chance glimpse of the beautiful Dora (Nicoletta Braschi) is enough to ignite his love for her. Guido succeeds in winning over Dora’s heart in spite of the presence of a fiancé Rodolpho (Amerigo Fontani). Guido’s infectious laughter and sense of optimism cannot but help affect Dora in a wonderful way. Their whirlwind

romance ends in marriage and a precocious son named Giosué (Giorgio

Cantarini).

As the war spreads its awful tentacles, Guido and his son are deported to a Nazi labour camp. When Dora hears of their imprisonment, she unflinchingly demands to go with them and is sent to the same camp, but kept in a separate area for women. In the midst of these unimaginable circumstances of horror and pain, Guido takes on a seemingly impossible task: he sets his mind to protecting his child

from the horrors that surround them in the camp and creates an alternate world filled with playfulness and intrigue. No matter what happens or what the boy hears, Guido fights to imbue his son with a sense that life can be beautiful anywhere and that innocence can be kept even in an earthly hell. He gives a lifetime of hope and memories to Giosué that are never forgotten.

Life is Beautiful shows that the power of love and family and imagination can conquer many hardships. A truly wonderful film that is a must see for all.
