Lilavati hospital - the worst hospital in Mumbai

Lilavati hospital is the worst hospital in Mumbai.

Its service, treatment and human care is even worst than a small nursing homes in your local area. They worsen the condition of the patient till he either dies or till they can put him on ventialtor.

My Dad was admitted to lilavati with swelling in feet and stomach and he was kept in ICU for 20 days with condition getting even worse day by day with BP dropping and decrease in urine output and we lost him on the 21st day.

He went walking to the hospital, but after 3 days in ICU he went unconscious and the doctors had no clue as to what had gone wrong and the reason for his unconcioussness.

This hospital has just got its name because of the few celebrities going there as most of the celebrities stay in bandra and this hospital is close to them. But in terms of treatment, care and service believe me its the worst of all hospitals in Mumbai.

In lilavati there is no quick action to a problem. The doctors visit the ICU just once a day and that too anytime mostly post lunch. The complete day is wasted waiting for the further treatment.

The ICU doctors and the other specialists are not in synch and there is no communication between them, they come to know about the prescription or changes in doses from other doctors in their next rounds. Till then the patient keeps suffering with those doses.

The doctors talk all negative things in front of the patients to demotivate the patient and depress him further. One of the doctors, a nephrologist who had come to see my father, said words such as "Buddhe ghode ko kitna bhi hunter lagao woh bhaagega thode na". These words were uttered in front of my father, to demotivate and depress him further. The doctors have lost the basic medical ethics in lilavati and are just doing business and not treatment.

In lilavati ICU, the nurses are so untrained that they cannot do the basic changes in the support systems without help from other nurses. Whereas the ICU requires well trained nurses.

There are 35 beds in ICU, but there are no 35 nurses to take care. There is no one to one service for the ICU patients. One sister takes care of 2-3 beds in ICU. Thats just disgusting. If the nurse is not around there is no way a patient can call them, the patient is helpless and its a mental stress to an ailing elderly patient.

The footwear is allowed in lilavati ICU. Visitors are not asked to wear masks or sanitise their hands.

Such kind of carelessness attitude towards the health of the patients is not acceptable.

When we asked them to call a surgeon and take his opinion, it took them 2 days to reach to the surgeon and attend the ICU patient. Even after 2 days the surgeon did not turn up and his assistant was sent.

Those 2 days delay to call the surgeon, deteriorated condition further that by that time he was taking his last breaths. This is the care in lilavati for the ICU patients. I am sure it must be worst in the rooms.

I am not writing all this just because I have lost my father. My father was admitted twice in Hinduja and that too for a condition worst than this where he was required to be taken in an ambulance but he came back home in 5 days.

My Mom was admitted in Asian heart and also CHL Apollo once. If we compare the service, care and treatment of lilavati to these hospitals, its so worst, not even 1% close to them.

Lilavati doctors are just playing with the lives of the patients. There are so many patients more than 15 who are in ICU on ventilators. Ventilator is an artificial respiratory machine, once on ventilator the patient is like a dead body. Even if the patient cannot be cured or nothing more can be done further by the doctors, they still emotionally brain wash the patients relatives to put them on ventilator knowing that they may never be able to come back, just to mint money as ventilator charges per day are a lot in the range 20- 40k. They are just doing business and not treatment. The lilavati ICU where patients are lying for more than months, itself explains that they are not able to handle or control their health conditions but on the contrary worsen it.

I request you all to not to take your friends or relatives to lilavati.

Few doctors you need to stay away from in lilavati - Dr Hemant Mehta, and the ICU head Dr Ansari.

Take care.
