I cant make up my mind about this one. Disney has always been number one in my book, but recently beginning with The Lion King, Disney has started to get a little too real for me. For example, in The Lion King, one of the main characters actually commits murder! In Lilo and Stitch, one of the main characters is described as Evil by its creator.
The story behind this film is about a broken home. Two sisters are about to be separated because the older sister is not fit to take care of the younger one.
Lilo is the younger sister. She is lonely and tries to make friends, but they dont want anything to do with her. She tries to fit in, but does not have much success. One night while saying her prayers, her older sister overhears a wish for a new friend. The next day she takes her to the pound to find a puppy and she finds stitch instead.
Stitch is a creature that has been created on another planet by an evil scientist. He is the only of his kind and is programmed to destroy. He is exiled from his planet when they cannot find anything good in him.
Lilo finds him at the pound where he disguises himself to be a dog. Of course, he creates all kinds of havoc for Lilo and her sister, but in the end learns that part of him is good, and he becomes a part of their family.
Meanwhile, the leader of his planet wants him returned so she sends his creator and several others to capture stitch and bring him home.
The animation is good as usual as with any Disney film. But it left me with a bad taste in my mouth because of the story line. I guess its ok since in the end, they all live happily ever after...
