Truly speaking, I am not a very big fan of hollywood movies that have been in India, even slumdog millionaire had no such great effect on me .I had entered the movie hall with an no huge expectations but as the film starts to build the plot, you really find yourself unable to control your tears. Lion is an movie on a totally different level with no convulations in the plot but a smooth and soothing ride which has its share of ups and downs . The performance of young sunny panwar is really dazzling and a lot better than jacob tremblay in room . Going to the plot, director garth davis has done his best to capture every detail of the original story of Saroo Brierly . From falling asleep on the train to getting lost in calcutta its a really hectic ride until the appearence of the australian couple who want to adopt saroo. From here on the story focuses on how saroo is able to bond with his parents played by a powerful and energetic, nicole kidman and a cheerful and jolly, david wenham. After this the story takes a 20 year jump and enters mature saroo played by dev patel who at first seems as if he ia jet lagged but everything changes when he takes a bite of the jalebi kept in his friends kitchen . From here on we get to see him at his best which continues on till the end and makes you cry like a baby at last. Rooney Mara though she has very short screen time she packs a lot more than a punch . I was simply amazed by the scene of dancing on the streets on the song urvashi . Finally, I would like to say that lion is a great choice of a movie to watch with your whole family and I can peraonally guarentee you that it will never feel to disappoint you.
