Lipstick being aired on Zee TV at 11p.m every night was perhaps the only serial, apart fron Kittie Party on the same chnannel, that tried to portray a modern everyday woman and explore her thought process. What I found appealing about this serial was the charaters of its two main protagonists, Suniti and Sheetal. It was a pleasure to see professional rivalry between the two, and justified emotions of jealousy and pride. Also, that the seriall tried to project a realistic world with believable characters made me stay awake to see a part of our lives on screen. (Me being a working girl myself!) I especially liked the title song and the way it was picturised. It showed modern woman, and there were no pretentions of them being adorned with sindoor an draped in silk kanjeevarams even while sleeping. The look was real, and so was the dressing. And then slowly, it too drifted towards the Ekta Kapoor way, and Suniti and Sheetal dropped their salwar kameez and trousers respectively, to deck themselves up in Sindoor, Sarees, and not to forget Bindis. Sheetal then came as a full fledged vamp with the dress code as Chiffon sarees and long bindis. HELLO! And what do I see this Sunday. THey change the characters of Suniti and her husband, when Shweta Salve (Suniti) is still strong and play her part in Kittie Party. Can anybody please explain this? Also, what was the need to again go Exta Kapoor way, and change the visuals of the title track? Now, its like any Saas Bahu and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki serials. I am really disappointed! Now its just like any other serial. I am not sure that I want to watch any more saree draped women atleast on my telly.
