Lipstick…its definitely different. A refreshing change from the torture that Ekta Kapoor has so adamantly bestowed upon tv watchers on almost all the channels. Lipstick is a story of a power struggle between two women, Sheetal Singhanis and Sunit Verma.
Pros – the characters Sheetal and Abhay are convincing. Suniti’s character is too clichéd as a middle class and the “good guy”. The dialogues are realistic and the serial is not afraid of venturing into controversial topics.
Cons – The same old sexist rubbish . Vijay Singhania insists on leaving UPC to his son even though he is a nikkama. Sheetal on the other hand is extremely competent and aggressive….in shot she’s perfect for the post but because she’s a girl she gets side lined. One would have more expectations from the writers in this day and age.
In the beginning Sheetal had every reason to hate Suniti Verma but now her character has no shades of gray. She is a confident, rich and self assured woman who is portrayed as a bitch who has absolutely no morals simply because the writers could not come up with a better story line.
Other characters like Jasmin, Mini, Ravi taking up important airtime so the serial can draaaaaaaaaaaaaaag on….
