A School that Endorses Corporal Punishment

Little Flower High School, Abids, Hyderabad, follows the SSC Curriculum and boasts a rich history of 70 years in education. Situated in the heart of Hyderabad, it holds a significant place in the city’s educational landscape.

Many alumni choose to enroll their children here, embracing the disciplined environment they experienced during their own schooling.

Regrettably, the school’s disciplinary methods lean heavily towards corporal punishment, overseen by the principal and enforced by the Physical Education Teacher (PET), using canes regardless of the students’ grade levels.

The school fee is roughly 65k per annum; however, it makes its share of income by making minor mandatory alterations every year so that parents have no option to buy uniforms elsewhere. It changes a child’s allotted house every year to make it mandatory for parents to buy house uniforms. Its pre-primary grades LKG and UKG have different uniforms again, making it mandatory for parents to buy a new pair even though it may fit the child.

Admission process appears transparent but they filter students based on their own terms. To avoid getting limelight for this they never display names of selected students only applicable number is displayed to inform parents of their ward’s selection.

Despite all this, owing to its rich history, it is ranked among the top ten schools in India, and I hope one day it gets the reputation it truly deserves.

For parents who advocate for strict discipline, Little Flower High School presents an ideal choice, albeit at the expense of their children’s physical and emotional well-being.

Sadly, the tradition of corporal punishment persists unabated, with no parent daring to challenge it, viewing admission to the school as a prestigious honor.

This archaic approach to discipline often leaves children feeling stripped of their innocence and subjected to undue physical and psychological stress. In an era where Generation Z children are already grappling with numerous challenges, such punitive measures only exacerbate their plight.

For those seeking a school that adheres to traditional disciplinary methods, Little Flower High School, Abids, with its illustrious history, may seem appealing. However, it’s crucial to consider the toll it takes on children’s holistic development.

Admissions close by December each year, so prospective parents should plan to apply by November to secure a spot for their child.
