This review is actually about the Little Italy branch that has opened up in Andheri and not the original Juhu one.
Opposite the Infiniti mall there are rows of restaurants offering a multiple choice of cuisines. Although my favourite Italian joint in the same area is Ginger Marie, we chose to give another place a try. Little Italy.
I have eaten at the Juhu Lil ITaly only once but have frequented the one in Goa a couple of times.
The thing which struck me there the most was the fact that it was an Italian restaurant in Goa that served only vegetarian dishes. Being a vegetarian I was quite kicked about it.
Back to Mumbai, the new restaurant has two floors dedicated to it. And seating wasn’t a problem even on a saturday night.
Upstairs while most of the tables were occupied, we got a table in a section where the ac was not working. Five minutes they said...
For most part of the dinner there was no music either and all one could hear was the blabbering of people at each table.
Not that people shouldn’t talk when they are out eating dinner but the monotonous sound needs to be broken by some music in a restaurant.
We needed help placing our orders because being the first time you don’t want to be disappointed. And were not disappointed by the aid we got from the manager - who knows his job too damn well.
We ordered for peach iced teas and a starter (recommendation of the Sardar manager). The iced teas were anything but peachy.
The starter however was quite nice.
It was then the main course that we waited for. A random penne pasta we chose from the menu was served to us half cooked.
Pasta when it is half raw can taste quite awful. Especially also when you are paying a heavy price for it.
The manager duly came to ask us how the food was and on telling him that the pasta was half cooked he first came up with some silly excuse and then offered to change it.
All in all the first experience that we had was not a very happy one.
I think I would stick to Little Italy when in Goa and for Mumbai well there are lot of other Italian joints which serve pasta - Indian ishtyle...
