Live 1947- Hats off to Hussains

’Live 1947’ is a play, not just on partition, it is the history of Britishers coming to India and how they lead to partition. The play is directed by renowned theatre personalities Aamir Raza Hussain and Virat Hussain.

Hussain’s brilliantly managed to capture and recreate the drama of the freedom struggle.

I watched this play on April 23, 2005 at Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium in Delhi. Apart from the direction and acting various actors, the USP about Hussain’s is the set up these guys come up with. Revolving chairs, the audience set up moves as per the scene, the sets, the atmosphere that Hussain’s create ia almost perfect.

The atmosphere that they manage to create will keep you glued to your seats till the last moment.

I have watched many theatre shows but this one I admired the most was because of the 1) open theatre, 2) the set up, 3) the stage, 4) audience sitting arrangement- revolving set up. Direction and acting is beyond words.
