Domestic help?

I am always surprised and at times shocked by how many people quote domestic help as reason for going back home. We have taken for granted the culture that has ’masters’ and ’servants’ and uses people menially. Yes you do need to do all your work by hand abroad and that can be pretty boring/strenous many times.

But - you can never talk down to anybody. A plumber or an electrician or a maid who cleans is hired, they are not ’servants’. Everyone has dignity of labor, noone is there to make your life comfortable at the cost of their own.

The problem with most indians especialy the high earning upper middle class is the inability to think of anyone or anyting beyond their own comforts and the life their parents gave them. No wonder the country still has so many people who are so poor and trying to make ends meet desperately. We want to accuse white people of racism, have you ever considered that your own ’servants’ might consider you racist too, lord and master???
