Steeply Over Priced, Poor Quality and Delays

We had given contract for designing and making furniture for 2 bedrooms in our flat in April 2018. The company promised to complete the work within 3 months from the beginning of the work. As per the company most of the furniture was supposed to be made in their factory and only finishing work should have been done onsite. However, almost 80% of the work was done onsite.


At the time of proposal the company made huge promises on the quality, timely execution and good finishing of the products. However, they delayed execution by over 4 months, delivered poor quality product and left the work incomplete at the end. We had to hire another carpenter to finish the final work which led to additional costs.


Poor Designing:




  1. No provisions left for curtains




  2. Bed storage lid stuck – additional costs charged for poor designing




  3. Pull-out shelf in cupboard wrongly designed




  4. Improper size of the safe cupboard – The final safe size had to be changed due to this mistake




  5. Safe cupboard door not added – additional cost charged again






Poor Finishing:




  1. Cupboard doors don’t close properly and gaps were visible in several doors




  2. Mis-aligned cupboard doors




  3. Visible hinges in most cupboards




  4. Gap in centre table shelf




  5. Terrible headboard finish – Holes are visible in several places.




  6. Black spots in several places in the golden patti




  7. Dirty and spotted exterior finish




  8. Dirty interiors with fevicol and glue marks in all cupboards




  9. Poor paint finish




  10. Cupboard edges painted instead of laminated




  11. Basic/Poor stainless steel fittings in all furniture against Hettich fittings charged in BOQ






There is absolute lack of co-ordination between the designer and the executioner. The designer had to be repeatedly asked to visit the site, there was no effort to oversee the work done. Motivation of carpenter was more important than the requirement of the client. Instead of accepting faults there was constant need of arguing and justifying the same with random reasoning with clients. Towards the end the attitude was “we have finished our job.we can do nothing further.”


For 45 days we had followed up with the company personnel to complete finishing work however, they stopped responding. Ultimately we had to complete the job with some other vendor. This is a case of cheating as the company made false representations and delivered poor products.


They demanded advance payments for all work and now they are refusing to make refunds and insisting that we buy other products from them.


Do not work with them for any kind of customized furniture.
