Absurd documentary

I recently watched the movie “LOC Kargil” and the waste of such a good movie-making subject shocked me. My observations of the movie are given below :

The Good

  1. Realistic (if not actual) weaponry. No more Leo toys…

  2. Good location.

The Bad

  1. Pretty Heroines. The heroines were definitely superfluous. C’mon Mr. JPD, you cannot show pretty dames singing in a war movie. If you do so, you will spoil the tempo of the movie, distract the viewers and remove the seriousness of the subject.

  2. No storyline. This movie was more of a documentary blended with songs. The movie was all about the recapture of various LOC positions by various Indian army battalions. As somebody correctly pointed out on the WWW, if the intention was only to show how all the Indian positions were recaptured by various army battalions, then a multi-part documentary series (like the excellent “Band Of Brothers”) would have been more appropriate and the hard work of other battalions could have also been portrayed.

  3. Portrayal of Pakistani soldiers as nincompoops

· Indian soldiers are trudging along and then a piddling Pakistani soldier grabs their attention and the Indian soldiers become aware of the Pakistani bunkers…..Piddling in an open war zone without a care in the world…!!! possible, but extremely unlikely !!!!

· Ajay Devgan’s patrol is crossing a river…spotted by a Pakistani position and they’re fired upon….However, as soon as they cross the river, there’s no more firing and they break for rest.

· Three Pakistani soldiers in a bunker are staring in only one damn direction, thereby allowing our Indian jawans to attack from behind.

· Pakistani soldiers can never win a hand-to-hand combat…Our Indian jawans always manage to stuff their bayonets in their enemies’ bodies.

· Pakistani soldiers do not know how to shoot to kill. They always shoot our jawans in such a way that our jawans have enough life in them to kill their killers before being killed.

  1. Portrayal of Indian soldiers as supermen

· Our Indian soldier heroes have enough time to retaliate and kill Pakistani soldiers, say a few words and dream about their loved ones even after being bloody pounded by bullets.

  1. Annoying (often repeated) quotes

· Whenever an Indian soldier is wounded, he emphasizes that it would take 6 to 8 men to carry him to the base camp…Don’t all the soldiers know that ???

· “Hail Goddess Durga”….these words were always yelled by the Indians when attacking a Pakistani position…..Isn’t India a secular country ??..or were those battalions filled with only Goddess Durga patrons ??

  1. Soldiers or kids. Wonder if the actors playing the roles of soldiers went to boot camp, in preparation for this movie…’coz they were moving about like kids playing the game of “police and robber”.

Conclusion

The movie LOC Kargil is FUBAR !! The moves stinks of unprofessionalism. Several truths were hidden and attempts to convey certain messages to viewers were made in such a ludicrous manner (like the stuff about the Bofors, the role of the Indian Soldier Zakir Hussain, etc.)

There’s no doubt that our Indian soldiers fought very bravely and recaptured the Indian positions along the LOC. Kudos to them for their bravery.

However, the movie “LOC Kargil” makes a mockery of the Indian Army.

Ironically, many Indians feel it patriotic to like the movie, which is utter nonsense. True patriots will not bear the nonsense dished out in “LOC Kargil”.
