After watching J.P. Duttas movie the one thing I realised was that I got EXACTLY what I expected. Before I went to the movie I predicted to my friends that this would be a loooong story about army men going to war, singing songs about their girlfriends/mothers. Missing their Ma ke haath ke ladoos. Throwing themselves in front of the enemy with no logic whatsoever. And ofcourse - tons of Paki bashing.
I was not disappointed. Infact I probably got much more than I expected. LOC Kargil is a mockery of history, a mockery of the trials and troubles that our army faced.
Did you know that the two Yadavs - played by Ashutosh Rana and Manoj Bajpai, didnt even know each other in real life?
And ofcourse you all know that the love stories were all fabricated! What was the whole point of all those flash backs & repeating each and every emotional scene everytime the soldier was dying??
The movie failed to depict the harsh snowy terrain that our men fought on. All I saw were rocky mountains, with little or no trace of snow.
The saddest thing was that people in the theater were not even the least bit touched by the deaths of the soldiers. Instead we were making fun of the innumerable flaws in the movie.
The movie absolutely fails to make you feel for any of the characters. Instead I still remember Barkha Dutta interviewing Captain Vikram Batra just a day before he died. His famous Yeh Dil maange more still gives me gooseflesh. But watching Abhishek spout that line 10 times in the movie just put me off.
Performances were good, except for Sanjay Kapoor - who was nothing more than average, Kareena Kapoor - who was her usual painfully loud and annoying self, Esha Deol - who was just no good and ofcourse Preeti Jhangiani - what is she doing in movies anyways??
LOC Kargil was more about giving footage to reel life heros than about a tribute to real life heros.
I love India as much as the next person, but if liking this film is the way to prove it, then I guess I dont!!
