A Fall Train Ride

One of our most enjoyable ways to view the fall leaves and colors was to take a train ride through the mountains. We drove to Bryson City, North Carolina, a quaint little town nestled down in the mountains. There we boarded a steam engine for a 3.5 hr. ride up through the mountains.

This train ride stopped half-way up for a picnic. If you didn’t bring your lunch, sandwiches were made up and available to buy in the dining car. You could sit and eat and watch canoeing in the rapids or just walk around and take in the points of interest.

It was something we really enjoyed and will remember for a long time. Yes, we would do it again. A train ride is something worth doing and we highly recommend it.
