Left ( Communists), now the endangered species around the world, are being carefully preserved by two of the most laggard states in the country, West Bengal & Kerala. It is a irony how a party which has majority in only 2 states of the country can hold the entire country’s economic policies to ransom.
The most confused political outfit in both ideology and direction, are looking all around for issues to cling on to. Fear of survival has made them cling on dearly to a log of wood in the sea but a WILL to get noticed by a passing ship is making them scratch the same log of wood.
Detoxification, Desaffronisation, De-disinvestment... has taken a precedence over Development. Decades of inactivity while in power in the states controlled by them has made them bereft of ideas and challenges of the modern world. Sometimes they talk of social commitments and sometimes they smell like capitalists. The Left Front in India would probably be the only bunch of people who are constantly in a dilemma as where they should sit, Left or Right.
