LONDON - Terrorists set off bombs during morning rush hour across London’s subway system and on a bus, killing at least 50 people, injuring more than 700 others and shutting down all public transportation. Bloodied and bandaged witnesses reported panicked crowds fleeing the blast sites. A witness at the bus explosion said the entire top deck of the bus was destroyed.

BOMB DESTROYED THE DOUBLE-DECKER
Witnesses saw the top ripped off a double-decker bus near Russell Square close to King’s Cross train terminal, and three more apparently coordinated explosions caused carnage on packed subway trains as Londoners made their way to work. Brian Paddick, deputy assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said seven people were killed on an underground train near Moorgate station, 21 were confirmed dead near Liverpool Street subway station and five died at Edgware Road. People were also killed when a blast blew the roof off a double-decker bus near Russell Square but the number was not immediately cleary. British interior minister Charles Clarke called the explosions “terrorist attacks”.
BOMB IN SUBWAY TRAINS
Police said incidents were reported at the Aldgate station near the Liverpool Street railway terminal, Edgware Road and King’s Cross in north London, Old Street in the financial district and Russell Square in central London, near the British Museum. Bradley Anderson, a subway passenger, told Sky News that “there was some kind of explosion or something” as the train reached the Edgware Road station in northeast London.
