I am a Mumbai subscriber of BPL Mobile for a week now. I had taken up the BPL connection when I saw the 444 scheme - Rs. 444 worth talktime with free sim card. But one week into the connection, I really regret the switch to BPL since I detected some fraudulent deductions of balance from my account.
I have not increased my usage frequency or talktime rate, but where I used to average about Rs. 100-125 per week on prepaid charges, now my balance is Rs. 54 after a week (from Rs. 444).
I was alarmed at the fast-dropping balance and started keeping tabs on my calls and SMSs about 4 days back. One example: A local mobile-to-mobile call that I made should have cost me Rs. 2.49 per minute. But that particular call duration was 00:59 and the last call charge showed up as Rs. 4.98!
I was shocked and called up the mobile assist executive who innocently denied any wrong billing and laid the blame on the clock in my mobile instrument saying that call duration of 1:01 must be showing up as 00:59. I was disgusted enough to cut the call right there. In another instance after sending 2 national SMSs (@Rs. 2 per SMS) my balance dropped by Rs. 9.00.
No wonder my usage is Rs. 390 per week up from my normal rate of Rs. 100-125 per week.
Better go with a honest service provider.
