Excellent watch

Do not watch the movie if you dont have any idea about the characters in the book, it will all be a blur to you and you will come out of the hall cursing .....

However if you dont have the time to read the book(I can perfectly understand) and still want to watch the movie, take some time and ask some friend about the plot and the characters and then get to the hall

Peter Jackson has brought to life one of the most loved books to life and though with a whole lot of criticism for making it too unreal has done a good job.

The special effects to the movie are breathtaking and are an absolute treat to the eyes and have you hanging to the edge of your seat.

JRR Tolkien spent nearly 13 years in building a world full of creatures such as Elves, Dwarfs, Ents, Wizards, Orcs and no doubt the much loved Hobbit, he also created intense family trees for most of them.

Its a really hard job making a movie of such a book where in there are so many parallel plots which make sure that there is such a need for special effects and make up without which the movie would be an actual farce.

The movie starts off where the first book ends, with the fellowship breaking up and the must loved Gandalf the Grey disappearing.

I am not going to dwell on the story, coz its way off to big and too complicated for me too tell in such a way that you dont lose interest.I shall leave that job to JRR Tolkien and Peter Jackson themselves.

Great Things about the movie

1.Special effects

The battle at the end which lasts nearly an hour where in the people Of Rohan fight the Uruk-Hai has to be one of the best ever seen. The sound effects and editing and the lighting and ofcourse the camerawork are SPECTACULAR

2.Gollum

This half crazy, schizophrenic, former owner of the ring has been generated by the computer and it has been done brilliantly.

The eyes of the creature perpetually seem to be rolling and this is done according to the emotion of the creature.

3.The camerawork

The camera work at different situations and at different locations are spectacular and I cant imagine the amount of work that would have gone into making the movie a success

4.Scene to watch out for

Watch for the scene when the wizard Gandalf appears with assistance from Eomer during the battle when all hope is lost..The scene is Breathtaking

Negative points

Undoubtedly the most irritating thing about the film is when Aragorn has these repeated thoughts about Arwen(Liv Tyler) and the following romantic scenes which ensure some glamour in the movie drives even the most ardent movie fan NUTS.

2.The Hobbits

The repeated conversations between Sam and Frodo which seem to cut the pace of the movie made me nuts, yeah!...they are alone and yeah they have a job to do, but please get on with it and stop dwelling on it.

3.The ents

Ents are the creatures in the book who are the creatures of the forest and those who have isolated themselves from the rest of the characters. They are vital to the story but their ’’look’’ was downright laughable.,

More work should have gone into their creation

Final word

Peter Jackson has made this trilogy of movies for the tolkien lover and no doubt with all the criticism he faces he has done a good job overall.

If you follow my advice and go and watch the film you will enjoy it.

Without dwelling on some of the negative points of the film, allow yourself to be transferred to a world different from yours and mine and allow yourself to be captivated!.
