LOST!

I read THE LOST BOY shortly afer it was published in 1996 by the Health Communications Inc. It was written by David J. Pelzer. I own the Hard Covered Book that has 340 pages.

This Book is about what happened to the Child in Dave Pelzer’s Book called ’’A Child Called It’’.

This is Book is a Biography and it takes place in Dave’s life from the ages of 12 to 18 years old.

MY REVIEW:

Dave never really had a home. All he ever had were some old clothes he carried in a torn paper bag. He was all alone and lived in fear of his alcoholic Mother.

He was just a good little boy who wanted what other little boys wanted. People to care. A place to stay. Maybe a dog or a turtle for a pet. Maybe a place on the green grass to sit and watch the summer clouds roll by. Maybe someone to teach him how to throw a ball or fly a kite in the sky. And most of all love. But all of that was denied him as he was simply labelled an ’it.’

Fortunately, some people in the foster home business came to his rescue. But the pain did not end when he was put into foster care. Dave went through five different home situations as a ’’F-child’’, a child of foster care. Much of that time in foster care situations was only a few steps removed from the pain of his first situation.

His experience was undoubtedly terrible and no Child should ever have to experience child abuse in any form.

At the end of this book there are some sections written by a few of the People during this time in David Pelzer’s life.

Dennis Topley who was one of his High School Teachers, Carl Miguel was his Probation Officer, Michael Marsh was his mentor, Alice Tumbough his last Foster Mother and Harold Turnbough her Husband.

These were the People who gave David Pelzer the thing he wanted most of all..... A FAMILY!

There is a lot more to this Book than what I told you but I will let you find out about that if you read this Book.

WHAT I FELT:

How The Lost Boy finally arrives at his goal of love is an amazing story. It will show you how important the Foster-Care System is needed in our Society.

People who had Families that loved them can’t imagine the agony of a Child who had to go through what Dave Plezer did.

I will never understand how a Parent could not love their Child? How could they not use they gave that Child but instead called him ’’IT’’?

In spite of the terrible start that Dave Penser got in his life he has become a famous writer, conducts Workshops and Speaks across the United States.

THE AUTHOR:

’’Dave has written three Books. He has retired from the United States Air Force after taking part in the War against Iraq, (Desert Shield and Desert Storm). He works with Children who are at Risk in the State of California.’’

IN CONCLUSION:

You will find your self going from anger to feeling proud of Dave.

My Daughter gave me this Book as a gift so I don’t know what it cost.
