Yash Chopras movie wanted us to fall in love. Imtiaz Alis movies simply want us to feel the love. the love in its raw form.
Imtiaz Ali has done it again. He has emerged as a new age Yash Chopra. He stirs our heart with his magical depiction of love on screen, he shows us the mirror with his sweet characters, he fills life in the movie with his anti-dramatic and convincing dialogues, he instigates the feeling-of-being-human by depicting emotional scenes with a touch of humor, he gives a sense of satisfaction by giving more entertainment than expected.
:Concept:
Love Aaj Kal ripped off love of aaj and kal. It was a glimpse into the love lives of people from old era and its resonating effects on aaj. The movie brings the partially-misunderstood and highly-influenced generation of today under scrutiny. A young Indian heart, today, is amid whirlpool of emotions and desires and is torn apart by it on a regular basis. Todays youth is just going by the flow. The "Just Do It" generation is still very much confused about it all because they have a past. Their hearts are still beating in the same way it used to in the golden era. But unfortunately, it unnerves them to even look back into their past. The past has been overshadowed.
Veer(Rishi Kapoor) tries to lift this veil from Jais(Saif Ali Khan) heart by narrating his own love-story. The way plot has been materialized thereafter is something to watch out.
Jai depicts the confused Heart of today. Veer depicts the past of this Heart.
:Last Word:
Imtiaz Ali is one director who knows how to insert an element of life into love stories yet give them a dream like feel. I would call it a brilliant movie. And all the credit goes to the director. He has given a refreshing treatment to this movie and left no room for any sort of comparisons with its earlier movies. I wonder why cynicals are still comparing.
