The movie ‘Love Aaj Kal’, written and directed by Imtiaz Ali is his second big hit. Imtiaz Ali has done it again who specializes in Love stories with a Punjabi base as they are full of colour and music.
The story compares two generations ‘Aaj’ and `Kal’, and its twin-set of lovers. It is a comparison and a lesson that Jai(Saif) learns about true love from Rishi Kapoor’s love story(which took place about 25 years back). Jai is into a relationship with Meera Pandit(Deepika Padukone) and both agree to end it when their careers become priority. Deepika realizes that’s he loves Jai but he is still unaware of it. When Jai finally knows that he has fallen in love with Meera(in which he never believed), he rushes to find her, who breaks up her marriage with Vikram(played by Rahul Khanna) on the very first day.
The song ‘Twist’ takes us back to the 1954 movie Naagin starring Madhubala and a Bhushan, whose Naagin music had become a craze with the audience.
Acting by the stars is good. The newcomer, Shruti Gulati who plays Harleen Kaur in her younger days, looks very innocent and sweet. The special appearance by Neetu Singh in the last scene is an excellently placed shot. The movie keeps the audience on hold and well maintains the proverb, ‘Curiosity kills the Cat’.
Under Saif Ali Khan productions, this movie is full of fun and entertainment. Saif Ali Khan took a write decision to produce a love story with director, Mr. Ali. Saif Ali Khan is sure to make money here. Audiences are rushing to theaters and multiplexes to enjoy the movie with music having a flavor of yesteryears and today.
