You might wonder, its probably true that…. The most love you see could be at the arrival section of the airport …. Love is everywhere at the airport.. as people are reunited with those who are most precious to them …
And that’s how the movie begins.. It has an amazing array of stars in it… I can see that LOVE ACTUALLY has been reviewed a lot of time before.. still wanted to bring up the topic once more.. friends.. trust me.. its definitely worth it…
Richard curtis, who wrote screenplay for “Notting Hill” and “Four weddings and a funeral” directs this wonderful ensemble of 10 separate (but intertwining) comic stories of love in London (a little bit in France too). Usually a movie has one happy ending… this one has 10!!!! All climaxing on Christmas eve… Before reaching any conclusion, let me tell you none of these stories are incomplete…
A fading rock star (Bill Nighy - he was an ancient vampire in the movie “underworld”!!!!!) recording a Christmas version of “Love is all around” (this song was featured in “four weddings and a funeral”).. he himself finds it silly and keeps offending it all over the media… and manages to beat “BLUES” to reach top of the music charts!!
A man (Colin Firth) who is madly in love with his wife finds out that she is cheating on him… heartbroken he leaves for a country side in France… where he gets a Portuguese housekeeper and falls in love with her.. Its amazing how both the characters can’t understand each other, still communicate with each other through their eyes and the way they behave with each other.
Alan Rickman plays the character of a married man who has a flirtatious secretary… she keeps hitting on him throughout.. (Emma Thomspon plays his wife)… Rowan Atkinson plays the role of a shop executive.. there’s a hilarious scene when Rickman goes to buy a gold chain for his secretary hiding from his wife.. he wants to hurry up and Atkinson in his stylishly silly way manages to prolong “gift wrapping” the chain..
There’s a waiter (Chris Marshall) who considers himself “A Gift to womanhood” and feels his romantic fantasies would be fulfilled once he moves to America… so in spite of repeated requests to avoid it from his best friend he goes to America and ACTUALLY find four sexy girls fall for him… the pretty “Ivana Milicevic” & cute “Elisha Cuthbert” .. [could not identify the third babe ] “Shannon elizabth”!! also joins in as one of the girls who like English guys with their funny accent….
[Guys.. Denise Richards makes a guest appearance in the waiters story!!!!]
One of the most touching stories is about two friends.. and a girl.. “Chjwetel Ejiofor” & “Andrew Lincoln” play best friends… Eliofor gets married to “Keira Knightley”… she always finds Lincoln keeping a distance from her… She feels he does not like her but realizes later that its only because Lincoln is in love with her and is keeping away from her only so that his best friend wont get hurt… There’s a scene where Lincoln goes to Keira and tells her “using placards” that she is perfect and he would keep loving her till the end … (guys this scene would definitely bring a smile to your face)
Then there’s the story of two porn stars – Martin freeman and January Jones (I think its her).. who fall in love with each other while filming for an adult movie!!!!! You can’t help but grin.. when they speak about love while making such a movie.. and appreciating each other!!
Liam Neeson plays the character of a step father to Thomas Sangster… Sangster seems too small to say dialogues like ’’the total agony of being in love.’’ But manages to make it believable with his terrific screen presence (guys I heard he is related to hugh grant!!!)..
Of course then there’s the ever charming Hugh Grant playing the role of British prime minister falling in love with his office assistant (extremely pretty “Martine McCutcheon” …. havn’t seen her in any other movie though)… Billy Bob Thornton makes a guest appearance as a “bullying president” of America… a skirt chaser...keeps flirting with women in the prime ministers office.. (This could be offending to some people!!)
The beautiful Laura Linney plays the role of a staff from Rickman’s office who has fallen head over heels in love with Rodrigo Santoro… and awaits to be called for a date by him.. when he finally ends up going out with her, she sacrifices her love in order to give attention to her mentally challenged brother…
Guys.. This movie is definitely worth watching million times… you would enjoy it everytime….
Love actually is everywhere!!!
