Pyaar Aandha Hota Hai,,

The album ’’Love is Blind’’ was released in 1997, when I was in my final year of Engineering. At that time there was craze of Video albums, does not matter weather it was pop music, remixes or gazals. If I remember correctly, for the first time Jagjit Singh marketed this album by making a video based on the ghazal ’’Chak Jigar Ke Se Lete Hai’’. In the video, it is shown that girl becomes blind after meeting with an accident and finally finds her lost love, , yeah, , LOVE IS BLIND.

No doubt, the ghazal is good, but to me it seemed more like a song. In the album there are ghazals that are far better than this ghazals. All the ghazals in this album are sad and mostly about thinking about the past, present or sad future linked somehow with lost love.

Following are my favorites in the album:

1) Kabhi Khamosh Baithoge, Kabhi Kuch Goongonaoge

Kabhi Khamosh Baithoge, Kabhi Kuch Goongonaoge

Mein Utna Yaad Avvonga, Muje Jitna Bhoolavoge

Kabhi Khamosh Baithoge, Kabhi Kuch Goongonaoge

~ This ghazal describes how hard it is to forget somebody, whom you have loved dearly. It says, more you try to forget me, more you will remember me.

2) Aaj Hum Bichde Hai To, Kitne Rangeele Ho Gaye

Aaj Hum Bichde Hai To, Kitne Rangeele Ho Gaye

Mere Aankhen Surkh, Tere Haath Pile Ho Gaye

Aaj Hum Bichde Hai To, Kitne Rangeele Ho Gaye

~ This ghazal says life today has become more colorful as we get separated, my eyes have dried (after crying a lot) and you are getting married.

3) Aaj Phir Unka Saamna Hoga

Aaj Phir Unka Saamna Hoga

Kya Pata Uske Baad Kya Hoga

Aaj Phir Unka Saamna Hoga

~ Here it says, Today I am going to face her, But I don?t know what will happen after that.

4) Samajte The, Magar Phir Bhi Na Rakhi Dooriya Humnein

Samajte The, Magar Phir Bhi Na Rakhi Dooriya Humnein

Charago Jalane Mein, Jalali Ungliyan Humne

Samajte The, Magar Phir Bhi Na Rakhi Dooriya Humnein

~ This is my favorite. It says, Though knowing (it is not good/possible), I did not keep the distance from you; while lighting the lamps, I burnt my fingers (trying to do something good, but got hurt).

Other ghazals are also good but the above four ghazals are my favorite. Jagit Singh has again given good music for this album and equal credits should be given to the Lyricist who wrote such wonderful ghazals.

Enjoy Listening...
