Ludo is by far the best movie of 2020 with a spellbound script , crisp editing and with spectacular performances from the ensemble cast. Anurag Basu is back again with his forte of portraying the characters in the most realistic n subtle manner. When it comes to anthology movies he is the Boss and good to see him back with a bang after Jagga Jassoos which too was a great movie but perhaps ahead of its time and difficult for the audience to accept it. This time Basu who has also credited with the screenplay and cinematography is in-form and the way the story unfold with proper color to showcase the characters life. It amze me how Basu with his editor has made a sleek editing the story so gripping without any loose ends. I will not disclose the story much but how the story of 4 people gets interwoven with one common thread its something worth to watch out for. The music is so soothing to the ears. Thanks to some soulful rendition of the songs without adding auto tune or some unwanted raps or cheeky lines. Pritam is at his best and the Basu pritam duo creates a magic and how Basu use the music and songs to move the story ahead. What I like the most is use of the 1950 song from Albela which even though was tuned to match recent temperament but Pritam kept the original track. Abhishek Bachchan is spectacular.With minimal dialogues Bachchan deliver a very splendid performance by emoting mostly through his eyes. After Ajay Devgan its Abhishek who can emote through his eyes. There is one scene particularly where Abhishek completely owns the screen with his performance. His chemistry with Inayat is great and perhaps the best story out of the four.Abhishek is having a good year and his resurgence is something to talk about with back to back great performance in Breathe and now ludo. Rajkumar Rao is hilarious and flawless. He excels the character and it actually reminds me of one of my friends who used to be a great Mithun fan. His comic timing is impeccable and this man can do anything. The real show stealer is Pankaj Tripathy. Is there anything this man cannot do ? He got the maximum screen timing and is in great form. I wonder how he plays every character with this ease. He played don in Mirzapur and now in ludo however I can bet one can hardly find any resemblance to both the characters. He has some of the great punchlines and his comic timing is brilliant.Basu very cleverly gave the best and difficult part to someone of this caliber. Aditya roy kapur and Rohit Saraf have done a decent job. Sanya is cute. Pearly and Fatima are good too. This movie is a must for those who like dark comedy. Watch it for Pankaj tripathy, Abhishek bachchan and rajkumar rao.
