I have flown LH twice in the last two years - once to Oslo and then to JFK - that is a total of 8 flights. The one thing I can say is they have good commanders - the way teh aircraft landed on runway 14-32 at Mumbai on 12 Oct 2005 was remarkable - so smooth and well executed.Similarly , when we took off from JFK on a rainy night(10Oct 2005) , the commander handled the rough take off quite well.Waiting for the FRA-JFK flight on 05 Oct , I could see the commander inspect the aircraft in good detail.
The other side of the coin is their cold attitude - characteristic of most Germans. The german stewards need to be given a hundred bucks to smile - the Indian stewards are , thankfully , a very cheerful and helpful lot - that is what makes flights into India a whole lot refreshing.
I have not faced baggage delays but do believe that their ground staff is rotten in replying to any problem.
FRA is perhaps the most rotten airport for Indian veg travellers.
