Full credit to Karan and all the other three directors of Lust Stories for opening that door into the Indian middle-class sexual consciousness where there lurks a lust for self-fulfilment, seldom explored, scarcely realised. For exploring what goes on behind those doors of middle-class bedrooms, this omnibus deserves an ovation.Standing, of course. It was an interesting film to watch. It bordered on being hilarious in a few scenes and made me think during a few of them. The way the directors conveyed the taboo topics was commendable. Despite the name, I felt there were hardly any controversial scenes. It was an interesting two hours for me.The first story about the clingy lady who was possessive but tried to justify that using philosophy. Her jealousy and insecurities were highlighted extremely well by Radhika Apte, who looked amazing as usual. However, I am not sure if what was portrayed would be applicable to the Indian Society. I somehow doubt if it would happen in India. My mind was always comparing Radhika Apte’s character with the lady in BA Pass. The end was also extremely hilarious. The second story suddenly changed the context. It made me think. Nothing illegal was done since it was totally consensual but it was not right. It was also a reflection of how a lot of people think in the society. The way the guy pretends nothing happened and decides to get married was extremely wrong. He does that even without any closure for the girl. I think he also looked down at her and I didn’t like that. I thought this story was a reflection of how things happen in many places. The third story was conflicting for me personally. I began the story with sympathy for the lady because of the way her husband spoke to her and I felt that forced her to look to his friend for a lot of things. But by the time the story progressed, I lost that sympathy for her. I also felt that she liked being a trophy and was jealous of the friendship between her husband and her lover. She used that affair to get what she wanted in the end and ended up playing with all their feelings. But her lover was also not ready to commit so I guess I might be wrong. But for me, she represented that dream girl from school or college that every guy has but will never get any chance with her. The lover got a chance with her and simply could not resist. However, he wanted to continue his friendship as well as the affair and didn’t want his friend to know. I felt that the way the husband pretended nothing happened was really weird or maybe he was just too desperate. So in all I could not make up mind about this story. The fourth story was my favorite and it was hilarious in my view. I was eating mangoes when that crocodile scene came up. I ended up spitting the mango when the actor does that bubble sounds. The awkwardness between the husband and the wife was portrayed really nicely. The wife was really good looking as well. The way she counts was also really funny. Her mother in law was also a textbook Indian mother in law I guess. The way she stood up for her desires was really nice and courageous. She also made her husband change his mindset so that was good. I liked this story the best.So all in all a decent movie which portrayed a controversial topic well.
