Main ''idiot'' Hoon Naa

“Have you seen the new Shahrukh Khan commercial”, those were the words that shattered the peace on a peaceful afternoon. The train compartment wasn’t crowded and I had managed to find a window seat. I had just started the Mid-Day crossword when a bunch of college girls got in. They were discussing some commercial which had SRK.

SRK in a commercial – Possible. SRK in a soap commercial – Why not? We have seen male models in a soap commercials. So whats the big hoo haa about SRK in a soap commercial? Well, the soap in question is LUX . What the…..??? Lux, the beauty soap of film stars, endorsed by the leading ladies of each generation. That Lux? Why did they sign up SRK of all the people. What were they thinking.

SRK has lost his marbles, I concluded. But before making it official and shouting from rooftops, I decided to check the commercial myself.

The D- Day or the D-moment : Finally, the moment arrived. The Lux – Shahrukh Commercial was on air. This is what is there in that commercial.

SRK is sitting majestically (?) in a bath tub filled with rose petals, blabbering something. Thank heavens (and the ad creators) that he isn’t shown entering the bath tub . Behind him are the Lux ladies, Hema Malini, Juhi, Sridevi and Kareena who try to dunk him into the tub. Should have throttled him instead. ;-). Ewwwww…. SRK may like soaking himself in a bath tub, he maybe in tune with his feminine side. After all “metrosexual man” is the in thing today. But appearing in a LUX soap commercial? E http://www.

I didn’t like this commercial one bit. It is just a cheap gimmick to attract eyeballs. But they aren’t getting any sticky eyeballs. The commercial is too repulsive (and ugly too) to give a second look. The argument, that SRK has been roped in to popularize the soap among women is utter nonsense. It is a totally idiotic explanation and a pathetic effort to popularize a brand (which has for so long been associated with actresses). Weren’t women using LUX before this commercial went on air. Or are they gonna dump their existing brand and make a beeline for LUX. I don’t think so. They (LUX guys) are getting more brickbats than bouqets for this. The “giant step” for “man”kind has gone wrong and SRK has made a fool of himself. He looks like a clown in that bath tub. Paisa bolta hai , huh, Mr. SRK?

Can someone please airbrush SRK from the commercial
