Madhumati, was a classic not only acting the music was mind boggling and the stars who acted were suited for the role.
Dilip Kumar, Vijayanthimala, Pran and so many, a great film and not boring to even make the generation of now walkout.
The story begins with Dilip Ji coming to a small village to work, he gets very fascinated with the scene and scenery around him, the quietness, the hills and the rustic village belles and while on his way he sings, Suhana safar aur yeh mausam haseen hamein daar hai humkho na jayen kahi sung by Mukesh Ji.
He hears someone payal sounds(which Indian girls wear on their feet)and tries to catch up with her, but she time and again escapes and one day he catches her when he is painting and she tries to rob his painting, it is Madhumati played by Vijayanthimala, who is a shy and dumb trusting village girl, they both fall in love with each other there is a beautiful song sung by Lata Ji, Zulmi saang aankh laadi, zulmi saang aankh laadi re saakhi mein ka se kahu, sakhi mein ka se kahu zulmi saang aankh laadi re.
As well as they have a place set to meet one another as he is not supposed to cross a certain boundary if he does so he will be killed by those village people, and she belongs to that village, she calls him Babuji, so she comes to him.
One day he is a little late in coming and the zamindar Pran sees her, he goes after her but somehow she saves herself from him, she then tells babuji as he is working for him.
There is a song sung by both, Dil tadap, tadap ke kehra hai aah bhi jaa tu humse aankh na chura tujey kasam hai aah bhi jaa. Which is sung by Mukesh and Lata Ji.
One day somehow her father comes to know and pulls her away from him and next day she does not turn up, he somehow manages to reach her house, when the father catches them again, he then tells her father he wants to marry her, so it is decided they will marry in a few days, but the zamindar has other things on his mind, he sends babuji out for two days for some urgent work, when he comes to tell Madhumati he is to go and will bring all the wedding things on the way back incidentially a day or two before her father had also gone to the country to buy things and now babuji is going for an urgent job, she feels depressed but then to she let’s him go, I think before babuji can meet her she sings the song, Aaja re pardesi, mein toh kabse khadi is paar ke aankhiyaan thuk gayi paankh hi nihar aaja re pardesi. Someone comes to tell her babuji that he has met with an accident and is at the zamindar’s house, when she arrives there no one is there, she then understand’s as Pran tries to rape her she jumps of a roof and kill’s herself.
When her father and babuji return they cannot find her, babuji goes mad searching for her but just can’t.

Suddenly he sees her in a group of people and he goes after her, but is told it is not her but someone who resembles her, he then ask for her help as he want’s to know what exactly went wrong in the zamindar’s house where she last went, they decide to make her act as her ghost as her brother is a police officer, when the zamindar see’s her as well as babuji what happens?
Was it the othe girl or Madhumati herself ? Who has come to take her revenge is the part where you find out.
Because watch a movie which is good in all departments wish it was an era of colour films it might have been beautiful to watch this movie as photography was too good as well.
