Scorpion reviews Madras Cafe: Based on d assassination of Rajiv Gandhi Madras cafe deserves a pat on its back for its flawless storytelling n amazing cinematography. Yes there are brutal killings n bloodbath shown but it only ads authenticity to the proceedings.
Though we all know by now and might have read in print media about dis assassination way back in 1991 but we still needed a certain Shoojit Sircar (Yakeen and Vicky Donor fame) to reflect back on history pages. 1st half is fast paced with a seconds detailing to each n every frame. There was hardly a moment when I blinked. 2nd half is equally intruding and never for a minute does the director go overboard with his characters n screenplay.
John Abraham as an undercover RAW agent and the producer of the film as well does a fair job. Nargis Fakhri is in her usual element delivering a no- nonsense performance. Editing is crisp and is shot fantastically at a brisk pace.
Surely Shoojit Sircar n his team will b heading towards glory in next years awards ceremony. Personally I think its time to get off Chennai Express and load into Madras Cafe for some realistic cinema. With no songs and a running time of 2 hrs 10 mins, Scorpion highly recommends this movie.
My rating: 4 stars.
