Maggi - The Great Two-Minute Slurp !!

’’Kids Are Always Hungry’’

As an answer to this statement, when I was a little kid, Maggi was once carried in, a brilliant yellow blaze in the shopping bag. The first Maggi in my life was an absolute no-no, because papa had made the mistake of bringing Chicken flavour, which we have never enjoyed since! But that was just the first time.

With more experiments under my sleeve than Thomas Alva Edison, I soon tried out whatever was thrust into the market by the wily Nestle folks - flavours ranging from Masala, Tomato, Sweet’n’Sour, Capsicum, and Soup Style....that was just the beginning!

Nestle also started a MAGGI CLUB, where you had to collect five empty Maggi packets and send them by post for your free lifelong membership. The membership was a child’s waking dream - one could exchange five empty packets for a host of heavenly goodies ranging from board games, Disney comics, craft do-it-yourself kits, and what-not!

From mother’s side it was a boon to a quick snack (the Unique Selling Point, which no product has even come close to for a piping hot meal), and with the games and comics pouring in through the post, exchanges for the empty packs which were to be thrown away anyway, both kids and mum had hit upon the right combination.... Rather Nestle had juggled up a killer product with a surefire market-base! Well, after that Maggi went on a experimenting spree - launching Tangy Tomato, ... , and even a sweet yucky flavor which I barely managed to palate.

Costing Rs.2, going up to Rs.3, and slowly and steadily incrementing on price (blame inflation) Maggi now costs Rs.10, which is responsible in getting itself knocked out of my regular dietary supplement :-) The realization dawns soon that Maggi isn’t exactly a health food to consume - there are known issues of intestinal problems due to over-consumption of fast-food.

However it is good once in a while for solving the eternal ’’Mummy, bhook lagee’’ squeals from little ones.... I still enjoy Maggi, and remember the bliss of Maggi and its wonderful club that it created for kids like us! I suppose your mouth is watering by now, but I hope you will spend two-minutes to rate my review before your delicious bowl comes!
