To Whom It May Concern
Let me start of by saying that this has been my worst experience with an Insurance Company ever after having dealt with insurance companies across the globe(UK, Paris and even India) across my years I have stayed in different countries and coming back to India.
I renewed my car insurance policy(P0017400003/4101/100254) with Magma HDI on my insurance agents request and this has been the worse decision that I have taken this year.
My car met with an accident on MG Road on 31 January and I went to the garage to give in my car on 5th February - this was done 5 days later because the car was in working condition and not really damaged to the extent that couldnt drive it around. So as per my requirements and I gave the car in for a repairs.
Firstly whenever I have given my car with other companies - Bajaj or HDFC, approval has been given in a day. For Magma it took 3 days for the surveyor to actually go in and look at the car.
Secondly, the surveyor only approves the right hand and back side damages of the car and not the left side - this was informed to me by the garage(Bengal Hyundai). On calling the surveyor, who if I may add does not know how to talk to a customer at all does not have a valid reason for not giving the claim. His reason beingwe cannot give multiple damages - hum toh hai hi aap baad main fir aayega(I am here you can come later and claim. What I fail to understand is that if I am paying the full insurance amount during the stage when I am buying the insurance then why cannot I claim damages to car that are genuine and as a customer I am paying for?
I also had the not so good opportunity speaking to the surveyors manager who started explaining physics to me that its not possible to have an accident in such a manner. Please let me enlighten my friends at Magma HDI that any sort of accident does not have a set trajectory path or I dont think any person apart from highly paid forensic experts will know how and what course an accident might have taken - so lets leave out the question of anyone at Magma HDI knowing how or when an accident might have happened.
Also the said manager in surveyor ask how the accident happened to which I gave them an answer true to my knowledge but I am sorry I dont have a CCTV outside my car or eyes outside my car to see which part of my car hit which part of the bus or Tata Ace in question. An accident happens in seconds and this is not a film where things can be played in slow motion and recorded and replayed back.
Then the said manager and surveyor ask if a General Diary was done with the police - and again Magma HDI and I very clearly know how the police functions in India. And on a busy stretch like MG Road nobody cars about the car being scratched but traffic police is much more busy clearing roads which happened with me - I was told to move along and file a claim, which is what I exactly did but to no avail I am facing so many issues. Oh and also I was asked for the bus number which I clearly provided but that did not help too.
Now comes the icing on the cake - I have called customer care 4-6 times every time being given the assurance that I will get a call back from the Back End Team but that till date has not happened and I dont think it ever will with the callous attitude of Magma HDI against it customers. I was advised to speak to the surveyor. The surveyor that has been dodging my calls, the surveyor who is eating half the time he is called and promises to call back but does not call back, the surveyor who asks me to call him on Saturday and when I do so he answersAaj toh office band hai(Office is closed today) and cuts the line.
Till date its been a week since my car has been at the garage and nothing has happened.
This is the state of Magma HDI so please please do something about it. Your website very boldly saysOur car insurance policies have no hidden surprises. How about the company lives up to these statements and learn how to deal with a customer and actually help.
FYI - this is what Insurance means - a thing providing protection against a possible eventuality. So come an eventuality - stand up to what you state in your policy at the time of taking a premium.
Thanks. with a lot of anger.
