The title was meant to be Mahaa Great! but since I use exclamation in the title of every review, I thought, it is better to write-(exclamation).
Topic changed-Mahableshwar, As you might be knowing was built by Britishers to chill as they used to experience severe heat in India. All hill stations in India were a result of the heat. It is situated at an altitude of 4300 feet (approx) and is 210 kms from Navi mumbai and another 40 kms from Mumbai. It may take you 5 to 5 and a half hours to reach there depending on your speed and your way of halting.
The only way to reach there is by road and by climbing the western Ghats through Mumbai or Pune. You will experience the cold winds as soon as you reach there. Recently, I went in summers to experience some cold. I was never thinking I would get such a low temperature. Now, rains have started and it is less probable to go there because of severe rain resulting into land slides. But still, READ THE REVIEW.
After you reach there, there will be many guides and persons waiting for your arrival, not to welcome you but to offer you hotels. You must first ask the rates and if possible, dont select a hotel in Panchgani as it is a bit far away from Mahableshwar and a bit less green too.
You may go to many points on the first day itself pnly if you rech there before sunset. Atleast you can watch the sunset point. The other day, you may spend time in boating in the Venna lake, going to Arthurs seat point, and going to points with the help of a guide. If possible you may also go to Table Top plateau situated in Panchgani. There is also a point called Sydney point where a strong force of wind keeps on blowing (i think it shud be called Chicago point as chicago is called the windy city) [BAD JOKE but not a joke, it is an opinion].
The next day you may go to Tapola. Tapola is situated at a lower altitude and you have to go there by road which is very curvy and is situated on dangerous ghats, so drive very cautiously there. Tapola is situated at the bank of river Koyna. After you reach Tapola, you can enjoy a boat ride upto certain points and if you want to go to the very famous Koyna dam, which produces enormous amount of electricity, you should go there very early because a ride to Koyna dam and back may take 8-10 hours (depending on the boat). There will be many points on the way to Tapola where you can sit and relax for some time.
If you come back early, you may go to Mapro Garden where you can see its factory and also buy its products after tasting their samples at a discounted rate. There is also a restaurant where you can engorge strawberry ice creams, pizzas, sandwhiches etc. You may also pay a visit to Sherbaug where there are a lot of goodies such as gardens, wrtificial waterfalls, cactus green house, shell collection and other things of nature but the ticket is of Rs 100 each.
For food, you may eat at the restaurants at the main market which is also suggested for shopping.
If you have another day, you may go to Wai which is the place where the movie Swades was shot. You may also enjoy boating there in the Krishna river.
In winters also Mahableshwar remains very cold. It rains heavily in rains and it is cooler in summers.
If you wanna go there on a Weekend, you will be able to go to only a few points, so select accordingly.
The major con was there are many guides and other people who continuously bore you and force you to buy their products. But, The roads are good.
And for any other information, first GO THERE and enjoy.
